Three Arrested for Meth and Animal Cruelty Charges

Richmond and Berea police collaborated in the recent arrest of a father, son and the son's girlfriend in connection to alleged methamphetamine manufacturing as well as animal cruelty. Richmond police were given a tip that the suspects were involved in meth manufacture and that there was a lab at the trio's Berea home. Berea PD was informed and went to the location. The officers were granted permission to enter and search the home. They reportedly found a meth lab in the garage that had been used to produce the drug. They also found a dog in the garage that had been locked in a cage. The dog had large sores on its back. Two of the three residents of the home were at the location at the time, 76-year-old L.L. and his son's girlfriend, 45-year-old J.K. The two were taken into custody and the caged dog as well as three other dogs on the property was taken into the care of animal control. Make sure you have the help of a tough criminal defense attorney if you have been charged with a drug offense.

Later that evening, Richmond police located L.L.s son, J.L. The 54-year-old man was stopped in his vehicle by officers who found a meth lab in his car, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. J.L. has been charged with two counts of first-offense manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree drug trafficking (less than two grams), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession and animal cruelty in the second degree. J.L.'s father and girlfriend were each charged with a single count of first-offense manufacturing methamphetamine and second-degree animal cruelty. The meth charges alone could result in up to 20 years behind bars for each of the three suspects. The misdemeanor animal cruelty charge is punishable by up to a year in jail. J.L. could receive additional imprisonment and fines for the other drug charges he is facing.
